Joy Smartt is a retired educator and resides in Coppell.

Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
Being retired I enjoyed having the time to exercise but tried several programs and didn’t stick with any of them.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
A friend asked me to go to GYIS and try it out. I went just one time and automatically decided to join. My son is getting married and I wanted to look the best that I could. I thought about having a personal trainer, but my budget wouldn’t accommodate that. When I visited GYIS, I was greeted with such friendliness by everyone. They stressed to work at your own level. The trainer comes by and helps you individually and encourages you.

Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
My first impression and every session since then, I was impressed by the feeling of community and friendliness from Brad, the trainers, and the participants.

Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
You are truly missed when you don’t show up. Everyone always asks how you are doing and from the time you get out of your car to walk to the pavilion everyone is friendly.

Q: What makes Get you In Shape different or unique?
The community atmosphere and support from everyone.

Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
I saw benefits from the very beginning! I immediately lost weight and inches and felt better all the time. In the first month I lost 10 inches and 11 pounds. My journey has been different because I had to have 2 major abdominal surgeries three weeks apart after four months in the program and took a few months off to recover from the surgeries. My doctors were amazed that my recovery was so amazing. They said, “the better shape you are going into surgery means the easier recovery will be for you.” Thank you GYIS.

If I am travelling and miss some sessions my energy level seems to go down and I cannot wait to get back to GYIS because it energizes me.

I sleep better, eat better and have more energy because of GYIS.

Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
Please try it out!!! It is a wonderful experience and life changing. There are no words to explain the FUN you will have while trying to get healthier.
