(00:00) Did you skip your workout today? Don’t worry you’re not alone as Christians we sometimes wrestle with how Fitness fits into our faith is it vanity is it self-care well let’s break it down.

The Bible says in Proverbs 28:1 that “the wicked run when no one is chasing them.” But that doesn’t mean Christians Should Skip their Fitness in fact our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and so not treating our bodies as such is allowing us not to serve others the way we should.

In fact like for me. I’m 49
(00:37) years old I’ve got seven kids that are 12 years of age or under and so for me if I’m choosing not to work on my fitness and my health.

I’m choosing not to be the best dad that I can be to them. So it’s important to understand that moving and treating your body as that Temple it is is very important. As Christians we’re not called To Worship our bodies but restore them on how they are meant to be so we use the temple that has been given to us to better use our time our talents and our Treasures.

(01:15) So Fitness is not about idolizing Hollywood body standards it’s about taking care of the body that God has given you .

Think about how healthier we were as kids growing up we were always moving around we were doing a lot of of activities during school and then after school. We would go outside and play and as years have gone on that activity that movement has stopped.

So just understand Fitness does not have to be about extremes it’s about moving using your body for the glory of God and so doing so having it to where you are treating
(01:55) your body which is with your movement and your Fitness as a way to help share your love for God and also use it as a temple so that you can be a vessel to others. So you can motivate, encourage and Inspire others to live their best life.

Part of my reason why I know Fitness is so important to Christians is because I am God’s light.  And in order for me to be God’s light I’ve got to feel good about myself I’ve got to be self-confident in the people I’m talking to and I’ve got to help motivate. encourage and Inspire
(02:31) others.

And so by Treating my body and using Fitness as a way to serve God and to be to live my my calling is it’s helping others motivate courage and Inspire them.  I see myself as my 50s and 60s as I get older I’m treating my body as a temple not only for myself but yes so I can be God’s light to others but the other part is it’s more about serving. Because understandably your mental, your emotional and physical and spiritual well-being comes when you’re moving.

So imagine your friends struggling with (03:12) health issues as they get older but you’re the one still strong in your 50s and 60s and beyond and they’ll ask “How do you do it?”

Well that’s your chance to share why you do it not necessarily how you do it why you spend and invest time in your health and fitness. it’s so that you can be able to be a better servant for others that you can spend time with your grandkids and want to take them away from your your sons and daughters and your kids say hey I got you go enjoy go for uh the wine country for a
(03:47) weekend go to the beach for a weekend and I’m going to watch the grandkids.

So the big part of what I’m doing today is so that I’m fit and healthy for my future grandkids and that creates that that faith and fitness that’s going to give you the confidence you need to be consistent for the Long Haul .

So are you ready to get started but just don’t have the motivation?

Well the first step to get started is really just start by taking a walk so I always tell people if you’re ready to get started…. the first (04:18) step is just start to create a daily habit of doing something as far as Fitness is concern.

Walking is the easiest thing you can do. Start walking a mile the second thing is start drinking more water. Okay those are small steps are going to lead to bigger ones for you.

And remember we lead by example. Most of why I have been able to stay fit and healthy for years is because I know it does affect all the people in my life my wife my kids my parents and it will also affect my future grandkids.
