Coppell Pushups For Charity Event 2014

Get You In Shape, as part of our core values, finds ways to give back to the community by hosting fitness related events to help raise money for worthy charity and causes.

Pushups For Charity was started in 2009 as a national campaign to help raise money for the wounded warrior’s. The idea was simple. Do 90 seconds of pushups in honor of our wounded military to help raise money. Each person would get their own sponsors get paid for each pushup they do. All the money goes directly to the wounded warriors.

And it’s not too late to donate to the cause or even join our team. Click here to join or donate.

I like to reflect on exactly what I PUSH for when I set out to rock my pushups and I encourage you to think about the same, whether your participating or not.  It’s easy to forget about what our service men and women do on a daily basis to train for crises and conflict, protect our freedom and our lives from threats and how much they truly sacrifice for each and every one of us.  Pushups for Charity has been such a fun way for us to “Get Fit, Have Fun & Make a Difference.”  All proceeds go to the non-profit Boot Campaign which helps fund the campaign’s five assistance initiatives: Jobs, Housing, Wellness, Urgent Assistance and Family Support.  Some info for you by the numbers:

  • Nearly 50,000 US troops have been injured since 2001, over 16,000 of those injuries are catastrophic leaving these military heroes with enormous hurdles to overcome when they return home.
  • The average age of an injured soldier is 23.
  • Almost 8,000 troops have been killed in action since 2001.
  • If the average military family size is 4 people, then over 230,000 direct family members are affected by current-day military casualties and loss.

What I PUSH For!
My family
My Grandfather, Edgar Weldon Linder, was Pilot in the Air Force. He actually dropped troopers on D-Day in Normandy. He made it back safely after the war and he lived until 1973, two years before I was born.

He ended up raising four great kids. Through the years and after many family reunions, I realized just how special my Grandfather was.
He was a man of very deep faith  and touched all those that were a part of his life.

So the first part of “why I push” is my family and friends. I always want to remember and honor my Grandfather.  For my beautiful wife and our incredible son Elliott and daughter Mary.  So that they may grow up in a world free from conflict and enjoy the same protection, freedom and liberty that I have.  I Push for my team at Get You In Shape and for each and every one of our members.  This is what it’s all about.  Supporting each other, treating people the way you would like to be treated, honoring those that deserve to be honored, promoting awareness and patriotism and giving back.

Freedom and Independence
(for myself and all those I have the honor to serve)
The second part of why I push is for the great ideals of Freedom, Independence, and the American Dream… which is also very closely connected to our military and my own entrepreneurial journey.

My journey also includes leading other men (and women) to fight for their health and fitness. Which is why I have chosen to live a life to help look, feel, and perform better. Which allows them to be better wives, husbands, fathers, mothers, and be more productive each and every day.

So I push for all of THEM… and for YOU!

To Give Back and Say “Thank You!”

The third reason I push is to give back and say “Thank You” to ALL of those who have served and fought for the same values and country I love. For me, this is the only way IClick on the picture to help! can give back and give back big.

I have chosen a different path in my life to pursue business rather than a military career.

But I NEVER forget that the only reason I’m able to enjoy the freedom and independence I have as an entrepreneur and American citizen today is because of the many generations of great men (like my grandfather) have laid down their lives for us.

I have tremendous gratitude for the debt we owe our forefathers.

I hope in some small way I can honor all those who serve and have served our military with my efforts and contributions through Pushups For Charity.

For me, this is my way that I can give back and know that being able to lead others from my community is allowing me to reach and help more people than doing something on my own.

I am grateful for the opportunity to raise funds for these incredible men and women and for the incredible and charitable people who come out each and every year to raise fund and Push with us, donate or just come support us and cheer us on.  We have been blessed to have been able to raise more than $50,00 the first 4 years. Talk about IMPACT!  The lives we are helping, changing and supporting is incredible!  Our goal for this year is $15,000.  Can we count on you to help? Remember that every, little bit counts.  Strength in numbers has helped us every year and I know this year will be no different.

What do you push for?

What (if any) connections do you have to a life of service and/or the military in your own life or family.

You ADD to your own personal power and confidence when you share your story with others.

Brad
