Glutes, Hamstrings, and More: Strengthen Your Backside to Age Strong

Christian fitness Coach for men over 40

I started coaching in 1998 when I was getting my Master’s Degree.

I Started our business,  Get You In Shape, in 2006. We have helped thousands of clients look and feel 10 years younger.  It comes down to a few simple things.

1. People need a plan.

2. People need a coach to help hold them accountable to following that plan.

We would love to help you look and feel 10 Years Younger.

All About Your Posterior Chain: Why Your Backside Might Be the Key to Aging Well

Picture this: Your grandchild comes running toward you, arms outstretched, eyes beaming with excitement. You bend down to scoop them up—but suddenly, your lower back twinges, your knees ache, and you have to brace yourself just to stand up straight again. Sound familiar?

Or maybe you’ve caught yourself slouching more often, shoulders rounded, your once-tall posture fading. That posture not only affects how you look—it can make you feel older, stiffer, and even less confident.

These are common signs that your posterior chain—the network of muscles running along the back of your body—isn’t as strong as it should be. The posterior chain includes key muscles like your glutes, hamstrings, calves, and lower back, all working together to help you move well and stay pain-free. This group of muscles is critical for daily movements like walking, bending, lifting, climbing stairs, and even maintaining good posture while you stand or sit.

At the center of it all is the gluteus maximus—your largest and most powerful muscle. But it doesn’t work alone. Dozens of muscles and more than 50 bones (including your spine and pelvis) form a support system that helps keep you upright, balanced, and capable.

As we age, however, we often move less and sit more—especially if we’re in desk jobs or spend hours commuting or watching screens. The result? These important muscles weaken and tighten, leading to back pain, joint issues, limited mobility, and increased risk of injury or falls.

The great news? It’s never too late to strengthen your posterior chain. With just two to three focused sessions per week, you can reduce pain, improve your posture, and restore strength and mobility.

Start with basic but powerful moves like:

  • Glute bridges

  • Bird dogs

  • Step-ups

As you get stronger, you can add:

  • Romanian deadlifts

  • Kettlebell swings

  • Hip thrusts

Training your backside won’t just improve your workouts—it will improve your life. Everyday tasks will feel easier. You’ll stand taller. Move better. Feel younger.

Because a strong back side = a better life.

Need help getting started? I’ve got the plan, the support, and the motivation to help you move pain-free and feel powerful again. Let’s work together to build a stronger you—from the back, forward.
