Coppell Trainer Spotlight Rookie of the Month – January 2016 – Robin McCoy

Robin McCoy is a Realtor with Keller Williams and lives in Coppell. She joined Get You In Shape in November 2015.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
I needed something different…I saw a Facebook ad and it was in Coppell, early enough in the day, and there was accountability to be there.

Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?Robin Before & After
I work long hours and on weekends. I don’t particularly “like” to work out so I have been very inconsistent. I have a gym membership and would go in spurts….seeing little results so I would quit going.

Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
I really liked the way they paid attention to us newbies. Recognizing that most of us were out of our element and nervous/unsure about what we had gotten ourselves into. As I continued on through the month everyone in the group was equally supportive. I like that you are only in competition with yourself and beating your own best.

Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
Love SPARK in the morning… MyFitnessPal is a great tool to keep your head in the game. And I love my FitBit.

Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
I never thought I would like “group exercise”. The environment is like nothing I have participated in before. It being outdoors is great (shocked me)…all the thinking is done for you so I don’t have to “know” anything….just follow the instructions.

Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
My initial goal was to lose weight and gain some strength and confidence back. I lost almost 5 pounds in November (my first 4 weeks in the program) and after 6 weeks I have cut 1 minute off my mile run.

Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
Give it a go…If I had been told 3 months ago that I would be getting up at 5:30am to exercise..OUTSIDE in the cold…I would have said that’s crazy. There are so many class options that it works into any schedule.
