Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?Maria Before Family Edited
My health is very important to me. I was looking for an environment of people who cared about their health just as I do. The many years of success that GYIS has had speaks volumes as to how satisfied people are that use the program. The flexibility is awesome with 6 class times to choose from each day. The program times and dates did not cancel or reschedule due to illness, weather, etc.

Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
I worked out with a personal trainer 2 X per week and did my cardio on my own at a gym 3 X per week. When left to this routine, I was very inconsistent. My trainer rescheduled or cancelled often, and then he could not work me into his schedule when I was available. I sometimes rescheduled or cancelled my own cardio thinking I’d do it later or catch up after my training class. Lack of consistency was a big issue and I spent a lot more money without getting the results I wanted.

Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
I loved the group dynamics. Because everyone remembers when they were the “newbie”, the GYIS community is warm & quick to welcome everyone. I started at the same time as another member, Amy Bishop, and we quickly became accountability partners by encouraging one another to keep going or checking in on one another. Both of us are healthier and in better shape than when we started. The trainers were always there to help if I was unfamiliar with a certain exercise. This is great for the beginner or the advanced health enthusiast.

Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
I use the challenges that GYIS offers throughout the year. This year we were challenged to move MILES outside of boot camp. To ensure that I would do my cardio and move MILES, I joined GYIS Cardio Club.
Also, I really like the BINGO challenge. It is fun and gets me out of my “comfort box.” Facebook is a great place to get information and stay in touch. GYIS & others post something every day that helps me make it through to my next goal or feeds me positive information.

Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?Maria After 1 Edited
The people make GYIS unique and make you keep coming back for more. Because the workouts are different everyday (in boot camp & cardio club), you won’t plateau or get bored easily.

Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
>I am down 10 lbs and 13 inches since joining boot camp a year ago. My energy level is very consistent. My sleeping is consistent. My overall health is amazing.
>I told Brad “I am not a runner.” Yet, the combination of cardio club and boot camp, and the encouragement of the trainers has helped me learn to enjoy running or fast walking;).
>I am no longer afraid of what the weather will be like or how my day will be because of the weather. I am much more flexible!
>I would like to add that in January I set a personal goal to be consistent in ALL areas of priority in my life. Moving my body every day is a priority for me. So, I show up for boot camp even when I don’t “feel” like it (which is very often). Showing up is half the battle. When I leave boot camp in the morning, I always feel better than when I climbed out of bed. It has definitely paid off!!

Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
Make you and your health a priority. No one is responsible for your health except YOU. You only get one body…take care of it. Pay now or pay later. But eventually, you will have to pay for your health. It pays to pay for GYIS boot camp. You will not regret the time or the money you spend on this program. You are worth it!
