Coppell Trainer Rookie of the Month – November 2016 – Michael Moore

Michael Moore is a manager in electricity distribution industry in Australia and is currently living in Coppell, TX (normally Gold Coast, Australia).

Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
I’m currently on a six-month sabbatical with my family from ‘real life’ in Australia and I knew I wanted to use this time to get back in shape. Sport and physical exercise has always been important to me but over the last ten years I’ve stopped making it a priority or even including it in my life. We came to Dallas because this is where my wife grew up (her best friend is Karen McMahon who runs the Cardio Club) and I figured what better time to start working out outdoors than in Texas in August??

Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
Busy, splitting time between a demanding job and raising kids. At home, I do have time to include exercise in my day but I just stopped making it a priority. As a result, I was always complaining about how busy and tired I was – even if I had barely stepped out from behind a desk. The more I stayed sitting, the more tired I became.

Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?michael-before-after
First day: OMG, it’s so hot. Also: I’m going to vomit.
First week: This is tough but it feels good to move my body. Pride that I was getting back out there.
First month: Happiness at the results that I was seeing and the difference that I was feeling. I’ve also met some great people and love being outside in the morning. I’ve even convinced my wife to join in.

Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
Brad’s nutritional guidance has really helped me shed weight while the exercises tone my muscles.

Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
I like how it works all of your body – there’s weight resistance, cardio, core and all areas are targeted. The trainers keep you on task and motivated and the group setting keeps you accountable. Also great variety in each workout.

Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
I’ve lost eight pounds in two months and 13.25 inches. I didn’t have loads of weight to lose, it was more about shaping up – but apparently there was more there than I realized! I’ve put on inches where I wanted to (arms, chest) and lost inches where I needed to (waist, hips). I feel so much better about myself for being active again. My health has been better and my energy levels are much higher. More than anything, it’s renewed my commitment to stay active. We’ll be going back to Australia in January but I won’t stop exercising.

Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
Go for it. The program suits people of all fitness levels and the wide variety of activities means you don’t get bored. There’s no pressure, only support.
