Coppell Trainer Rookie of the Month – July 2017 – Janice Gladney

Janice Gladney has been a home health occupational therapist for the last 31 1/2 yrs. I moved from Chicago to Coppell in January 2012.

Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
I use to walk at least 2 miles every day when Rover, my dog was alive. I put Rover down on April 30, 2014. I stopped walking, became inactive and gained 30 lbs. over the next 2 yrs.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
I use to receive e-mails with videos of the GYIS group exercising in the dark. I joined Texas Fitness in July of 2015. I was paying for a membership and not going. I had a personal trainer for 30 mins on Tuesday & Thursday starting September of 2016 but wasn’t really consistent going on the off days. I joined GYIS to be held accountable!

Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
I was initially intimidated during my first couple of weeks working out but it became easier. I started out going to the 8 am session then tried the 5:30 pm & 6:30 pm sessions. Work seemed to interfere. So I committed myself to the 6:30 am session which has been the best choice for me.

Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
I used AMG (AccomplishMoreGoals.com) as a tool to set & progress my goals and to help keep me accountable & consistent. I also use Fitbit to track my activity progress.

Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
I had a personal trainer back in Chicago over 20 yrs. ago who was very similar to GYIS style of fitness as far as keeping me accountable, motivating, weekly measurements and definitely getting results. So when I finally joined the GYIS Team, I knew I had to be consistent with eating clean, drinking water and getting 5 days of workout in to really be successful. I felt at home. GYIS uniqueness for me has to do with the community and the excellent trainers with their different styles of training. It’s a lot of hard work with humor and a good support system from the staff and the community!

Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
I started January 13, 2017 with GYIS. I was tired of the same old rut of working, doing notes all night and eating unhealthy. The weight continued to creep up. So when I received another email, it was now or never. Joining GYIS has been a life changer for me. I have lost a total of 14.25 inches and 9.6 – 6 lbs. I’m able to wear clothes I haven’t been able to fit in over 5 yrs. I feel lighter. I definitely have more energy. I’m running and enjoying it (THANKS KAREN) I eat healthier and I truly look forward to working out with The GYIS Team & Community 5 days a week! If you do your part, GYIS definitely holds up their end of the deal! THANK YOU GYIS TEAM!

Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
YOU NEED TO BE HERE! I can tell you so many things about it, but you yourself need to be here. It’s a workout program that has a community that makes you feel wanted, welcome and they have excellent trainers and you will get results and you will be held accountable. IF you don’t get results, it’s not because they didn’t do their part, it’s because you didn’t do your part. You need to be consist and do what they tell you and you will get results!
