Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
Before joining GYIS I had not worked out in well over 5 years. I kept renewing my gym membership every year with good intentions of starting back working out, but another year would pass by and it just didn’t happen. Not only was I not working out, I pretty much wasn’t doing anything physical. My eating habits were terrible. Almost everything I put in my mouth was unhealthy. I was gaining more and more weight to the point that it was affecting my overall health. I was embarrassed about the way I looked, and didn’t really want to go do a lot of the things I used to enjoy.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
I decided to join GYIS after running into a friend who I had not seen in a while. She had lost so much weight and looked amazing. When I asked her how she had made this amazing transformation, she told me she had joined GYIS Boot Camp. I decided that day this was what I needed to do, I had spent way too much time talking about making a lifestyle change and it was time to actually stop talking about it and take action.

Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
My immediate impression of the GYIS program was overwhelmingly positive. I was a little apprehensive going to my first workout, but when I got there everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The workout was tough, but thanks to modifications the trainer made for me along with the encouragement of everyone there, I made it through the entire hour. I decided that day that I was going to give this a go and I signed up for an entire year. After joining I met with Brad and we went over my short term and long term goals, along with the reasons these goals were important to me. He put together a plan of action for me that included exercise, diet and nutrition to help me get started towards my goals. It was at this point that I realized this was so much more than just a boot camp. It was a road map for a new and healthier lifestyle.

Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
I have found MyFitnessPal to be very beneficial. Before using this, I would mindlessly put food in my mouth without even thinking about the amount of calories I was consuming. Since I have started recording my meals in MyFitnessPal it has not only made me more mindful of what I eat, but it has also prevented me from eating a 1500 calorie BLT that I would have never guessed had that many calories. It has helped make me aware of what foods are healthy and what foods are calorie nightmares.

Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
Before GYIS I had a gym membership, but that’s all it was, a gym with workout equipment. There was not anyone partnering with you to achieve your fitness or health goals. You were completely on your own. At GYIS Brad and the coaches truly care about you, and are there every step of the way guiding and motivating you to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. That also goes for the other members of GYIS. They are always there for you encouraging you because they are on the same journey themselves.

Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
After the first couple of weeks of working out and eating clean I was already seeing results. I was feeling better overall, my endurance was improving, and I had lost 4 pounds. I could tell that this program was really working for me in more ways than I had anticipated. Each week I have continued to drop 1-1/2 to 2 pounds. At 4 weeks I had lost 10 pounds. It has now been 7 weeks and I have lost a total of 15 pounds. I couldn’t be happier with this program and what it is helping me to accomplish.

Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
I would encourage anyone wanting to get in shape or lose weight to check out the GYIS program. No matter what your fitness level, GYIS will get you on the right track to health and fitness. So stop procrastinating and just do it. You’ll be happy you did!
