Coppell Trainer of the Month – June 2017 – Meg Hinkley

Meg is the wife of Paul Hinkley, and mother to Michael and Kristin. She is also the owner of Athena’s Strategies self- defense seminars for women.

Q: What was the biggest challenge/problem you were facing before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
I wasn’t training my entire body and I had become irregular about my exercise habits.

Q: Why did you end up deciding to join the Get You In Shape program?
I knew I needed to get back on track and I saw the GYIS program while I was walking my dog at the park. Liked the full body exercises the participants were doing and I like that the classes were outside.

Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
First, my overall body strength and conditioning have improved. This allows me to continue to teach self-defense and feel good while doing so. I used to have more joint pain and that has improved quite a bit. I have lost fat and gained muscle mass over the years. I really don’t weigh myself on a scale anymore but use how my clothes fit and how I feel as my barometer.

Q: Why did you decide to give your time and become part of the Get You In Shape Team?
The clients. We really do have the best community of participants. Everyone is here for a different reason but we are all working toward a similar goal. The motivation, support and camaraderie made it special. It’s so satisfying to see a client progress on their journey and feel and look better.

Q: What strengths/special gifts do you feel help you as a trainer with Get You In Shape?
I really enjoy getting to know the clients and the specific goals they have. I enjoy challenging the clients and helping them get stronger.

Q: What are some of the benefits that you have received by being a trainer on the Get You In Shape Team?
Friendship and community. I feel like I am a part of something bigger than an exercise group and the clients are so encouraging and kind to us.

Q: What would you say to anyone looking to join this program?
Do it! Life is too short to not feel good. You will have more energy, more stamina, and more strength. You will also meet some wonderful people you would otherwise never get to know.
