What was your life like before Get You In Shape?

I was totally frustrated with myself and the choices that I was making.  I was caught in a cycle of not sleeping well or sleeping too much and always being too tired to exercise.  I felt bloated all the time, unsatisfied and a bit down about myself and my life. I had just lost my mom and mother in law to cancer and felt as if I didn’t know which direction to take. I was feeling lonely.

Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?

My good friend, Chaney Respondek, said “I sure wish you would come to boot camp” – so I think that’s what I needed to get going – an invitation.  I had attended Boot Camp years earlier so I felt it was the right time to have a positive wellness community in my life.  I thought, “what the heck, I will give it a shot”. And now 6 months later I brought my husband, Jay, along to join me.

What was your first impression of GYIS?I was so impressed with how organized it was!!  Not just the workouts and trainers but the entire structure of the program with the My Coach App, individual coaching and encouragement from Brad.  I was shy at first, not saying much as I was concentrating on correct form. The trainers were wonderful explaining and making sure I was performing the exercises correctly.  I didn’t want to “rush” the progress – I wanted to do it correctly. The trainers were perfect in making sure I was relaxing my shoulders, activating my core, holding my head in the right position.  It was exactly what I needed and I appreciate it.  I have a tendency to be accident prone, so I need all the help I can get!  And, I wouldn’t say I am shy any more.  Just ask Daniella.

What are some of the tools you have used that have benefitted you?

So many! I look at the MyCoach App, Facebook VIP Group and the messages sent by Brad and Melissa. I have tried a few of the Alovea products which I think are very helpful in reducing cravings- especially late afternoon munchies. I attempted the No Sugar Challenge – I did ok, not perfect but I tried. Every month I challenge myself to get as close to perfect attendance as I can. It helps to have 5 classes to choose from and I have bounced around to the different class times.

How is Get You In Shape different from other programs you have tried before?

It is 100% the mindset and attitude of the trainers, Brad and Cynthia. I have never been part of an exercise community in which the trainers REALLY care about the participants. I mean, like family! They all walk the walk and that’s the difference. I feel certain that each of us is considered an important part of the community. The leadership makes us feel that each one of us is a part of the family and we all matter. And…the most unbelievable gift was given to me. I am personally having some issues with my shoulder and neck. Cindy H personally made a list for me of all the exercises that should be safe for me to perform. So, if the group is doing thrusters (as an example). I can look at my list and choose a different exercise. THAT is personal service!! Thank you!!!

What results and benefits have you experienced with Get You In Shape?

I started in November 2022 and I have dropped 8 lbs and one dress size in 6 months. It has been slow and steady which actually is the best way to do it. At this rate I should be down another dress size before both of my children get married in the Fall. I finally have more sustained energy through the day. I am sleeping better and I definitely feel stronger! My balance is better and I have a whole set of new friends to see each week!

What would you say to anyone looking at this program?

Just like Chaney invited me, I would encourage them to join me for a class and experience the physical and emotional benefits of working out with a group of people that want to be fit and have a blast doing it!
