What was your life like before Get You In Shape?

I was starting to have some indications that my health was not in good shape, slightly elevated blood pressure and slightly elevated cholesterol level. I had gained weight and was struggling with how to get it off.

Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?

I saw the FB/Instagram post about 3 times in a short space of time. Not happy with my clothes not fitting right and having so many pieces that no longer fit(some new). I wondered about this group/the ad and whether this was exactly what was being promoted. I spoke to my son who is a Jit-jitsu trainer about the post. He said, “Mom give it a try…” I expressed an interest and Brad called. He sounded like an honest guy, not pushy and so I made an appointment. I started right away.

My sweet friend, Jo Lee, invited me to check it out knowing my need for something. She had invited me before, but I guess I wasn’t ready then.

What was your first impression of Get You In Shape?

Okay so I showed up on ropes day for my first class, but it didn’t scare me off. Most of the tools for workouts, I have really enjoyed learning how to use, including the ropes that day. The workouts are so well planned and I found the trainers to be so encouraging.

What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefitted you?

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but those ab rollers get the job done.

How is Get You In Shape different from other programs you have tried before?

Even though they call it boot camp, no one is screaming at you while you are trying to work out. I knew the GYIS method would be effective for me because it was so encouraging and instructional. I also did not realize just how much I needed the community part of this program. The other people make this program. Better together is truth.

What results and benefits have you experienced with Get You In Shape? 

I was so surprised to have lost some inches all over in just a few weeks even after being gone on a week long band trip. I can tell my clothes are fitting better. I am getting better sleep and am more intentional about getting enough sleep to be able to show up at 6:30 am ready to go. I am also more conscientious about food in my diet that fuels workouts. My favorite part is that I was able to talk my husband and younger son into getting morning workouts at the CORE while I’m at GYIS. Recently my older son joined in as well.

What would you say to anyone looking at this program?

This program has got your back. You need the community part more than you know. Commit to the workout time and plan accordingly. It will all fall into place faster than you can imagine.
