Steve & Julia Moomau live in Coppell and are retired, Steve from IT Consulting.
Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?Julia: I walked three time a week but my walking buddy moved out of Coppell. I worked out with a personal training until we changed fitness centers. Tried to work out on my own after that but was hard to stick to it.Steve: I exercised periodically, but it was all cardio and no strength training.
Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?Julia: I was not getting very much exercise on my own.Steve: I wanted to get into a workout routine 3-4 times a week that I could stick with over time. I wanted a program that included both cardio and strength training. I also wanted to join to support my wife Julia in achieving her fitness/health goals.
Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?Julia: Very friendly, very helpful with workout techniques, very encouraging.Steve: The structure and community accountability of working out with a group was exactly what I was looking for in a training program.
Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?Julia: The Challenges – monthly, holidays, etc. Nutrition classes.Steve: MyFitness app, workout programs to use when traveling, “check in for charity” as extra motivation to work out.
Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?Julia: What makes Get you In Shape different or unique? GYIS is a community, you are never on your own. You can workout at your own level and pace, but always be challenged.Steve: I had never tried a structured program before, just working out individually. I found it hard to stick to an individual program. The GYIS program has helped motivate me to achieve my fitness goals (e.g., trainers that make workouts enjoyable, sense of community, etc.)
Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?Julia: Better health, better diet, improved cardio endurance. I have been able to maintain a consistent workout schedule.Steve: Going into the GYIS program my goals were more fitness & health related than weight loss. While I haven’t lost weight, I have lost 2 inches in my waist line. Also, I have seen improvement in my strength and flexibility. Regular workouts have become part of my lifestyle.
Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?Julia: DO IT!Steve: Do the 30-day challenge to experience the program. My bet is you will decide to continue after the challenge is over.
