Donald Perschbacher is a career banker and 31 year resident of Coppell. He has been a part of GYIS since 2011.

You recently reached out to Brad to help. you reach some new goals…share with me where you were at before starting the Coaching Program a few short weeks ago and why you reached out to me.

Because of my involvement with GYIS, I felt good about my progress from a general fitness perspective, I wanted to lose some weight, but mainly wanted to reshape where some of my weight was carried – namely from around my stomach – strengthen my core and build upper body muscle. I wasn’t making progress in these areas on my own and realized I needed guidance and a plan. From GYIS, Brad knows how I’m wired and that I like routines, he was my first call to develop a plan.

Do you feel like this program was customized to you and you got the help, support and accountability you needed?

Absolutely. While I prefer plans, order, structure, between family, work, the ranch, that’s not always possible for me. If my schedule required me to make a change, it was easy to do with the program and still stay on track. With the App, the help and support throughout wa great – daily workouts, daily lessons, check-ins with Brad for accountability – it all made a difference.

Walk us through your initial journey with Get You In Shape.

My first experience with GYIS was driven by my wife, she signed me up for a trial period. Candidly, exercising on a regular basis was not my thing, not something I had ever really done. Because of that, I wasn’t sure how I would do or if I’d fit in. I quickly realized though, fitness isn’t one-size-fits-all and the GYIS provided a way for people at all different fitness levels to reach their goals, whatever they may be. Over time, I could tell a difference in multiple ways: strength, stamina, functional fitness, mobility.

 

Because of a work changes, I had to take a break from GYIS. Being on hiatus made me realize what I was missing and when the work situation changed again, I resumed GYIS and haven’t looked back.

Now walk us through these last few weeks since starting our Nutrition Coaching Program. What results and benefits have you experienced since starting.

My primary goal was to lose belly fat plus work on my core and upper body, while losing some weight. All goals were met – I lost ~18 pounds in 8 weeks and lost A LOT of INCHES. The re-shaping of my body in that time frame really exceeded my expectations. By the end of the program, many of the things I learned have become lifestyle changes, almost second nature now.

I’ve also noticed a big improvement in my sleep, both how long and how restful. That translates to benefits in many other areas throughout my day, whether it’s boot camp, the office or at the ranch.

How would you describe what Get You In Shape Coaching Program is to a friend that was looking at the program?

Simple, if you follow the plan, it works. There are so many different aspects to the program, and I think it’s the combination of those things that makes a difference – it’s not one thing, it’s putting it all together. Having a coach to guide you through the program makes a big difference. Accountability is important, but so is encouragement, and there’s plenty of that along the way. I also benefited from being part of GYIS, having the support and encouragement from my fellow 5:30am workout warriors and coaches.
