“Where Are They Now” Spotlight – December 2017 – Robin McCune & Jacqueline Tapella

Robin and Jacqueline are a mother/daughter team that are a part of the GYIS community.
Robin McCune is a Pediatric Oncology Nurse at Medical City Children’s Hospital and she lives in Coppell, Texas. She joined the GYIS program in January of 2016.
Jacqueline Tapella opens new stores in the Real Estate department of Sally Beauty. She lives in Coppell, TX and began GYIS in May 2015.

Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
Robin: Before joining GYIS I was at my highest weight, was tired all the time, was working out inconsistently and not eating as healthy as I knew that I should. It was time to take control of my health again.
Jacqueline: Before GYIS – tried different gyms and bootcamps, had moved from another town with a bootcamp and was looking for something similar. This is even better!

Q: What results and benefits did you initially experience with the Get You In Shape Program?
Robin: By the second month with GYIS, I had lost 16.75 inches and 6.8 pounds! After 5 months, I had lost a total of 28.5 inches and 14 pounds and was down 2 sizes! I had more energy, was eating healthier and was consistently going to boot camp 3 days a week. I was thrilled with my results!
Jacqueline: My initial journey was a little backwards – I was 12 weeks pregnant with baby #3. So I obviously gained weight. In January of 2016, when I returned, I started with the 6 week group challenge and lost all the baby weight (38 pounds) plus about 5 more in 6 months.

Q: What results and benefits you accomplished since that first year?
Robin: I am so pleased to say that I have been able to maintain my results. I still attend GYIS boot camp 3 days a week and have a healthier lifestyle.
Jacqueline: Since losing all the weight – I have knocked over 2 minutes off my mile time! I also could not do even 1 running man sit-up – they are actually some of my favorite now!

Q: What do you feel have been some of the keys that have helped you throughout the journey?
Robin: The key things that have helped me throughout this journey is be consistent with my workouts at GYIS, using MyFitnessPal to log meals, food prepping. Also, the friends that I have made a GYIS keep us accountable for showing up! It’s great!
Jacqueline: Key things that have helped me are definitely using a fitbit to track my steps and activity, my fitness pal for the initial weight loss helped tremendously! I have learned a ton about clean eating and balancing daily intake of protein, carbs and healthy fats.

Q: What would you say to anyone looking to join the Get You In Shape program?
Robin: Joining GYIS was the best decision that I ever made! The trainers are amazing, the workouts are always changing and challenging. The trainers always demonstrate 3 different levels of how to perform the exercise so that people at all fitness levels can participate and grow stronger at their own pace. It is a fun and friendly environment where successes are celebrated and friends are made. Come join us – you won’t be disappointed!
Jacqueline: If you are looking for a group setting and need someone to help push you along to get through a tough workout – this is where you want to be. Your peers and trainers are counting on you to be there. There is tons of support, love and constant recognition.
