Jennifer Cottingham is retired and lives in Coppell. Jennifer began the Get You In Shape program in January 2017.

Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
Before starting the GYIS program, I was exhausted, burned out and overweight from my former stressful and time consuming career and commute – I felt almost lifeless but had a desire to feel better and regain life. I set achieving health and wellness as my number one goal for 2017.

Q: What results and benefits did you initially experience with the Get You In Shape Program?
The first month, I lost 6 pounds! After a year, I have lost about 38 pounds! It feels fantastic, like my younger livelier self. Still striving to reach my ideal weight.

Q: What results and benefits you accomplished since that first year?
I feel very much alive, get compliments often and can even run a mile in 9 minutes 34 seconds now! Before GYIS, I was a non-runner. I also have cleaned up my eating and sleep well each night. It feels so much better!

Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
I like working out in the new park and watching the sunrise during the 6:30 am class. The GYIS program is unique in that as well as having trainers who are committed and connected within the community. The other members are also a tremendous blessing. It’s the people (both fellow members and trainers) who make a difference.

Q: What do you feel have been some of the keys that have helped you throughout the journey?
Keys to success throughout this journey include a strong commitment to my number one goal for 2017 of becoming healthy and well along with just deciding to work out here as prescribed and also stay active on off days. New friendships with like-minded individuals is also an important aspect for success.
