Describe how the Get You In Shape Biggest Winner Contest has helped you these past 6 weeks? As an old-timer with GYIS I used this challenge as way to get back to the goals I set when I first joined.  As the pace and stress of life continues sometimes, I lose focus and go back to old bad habits.  I decided this contest was a time for me to reconnect with my “So That”.  I have faithfully followed the Slim and Trim Program, attended all sessions of bootcamp and cardio club during the contest, and committed to getting weighed/measured every two weeks.  I do not want to lose the same 10 pounds again!!!  It is time to maintain focus and reach my personal health goals.  The contest gave me accountability and a time frame to build better habits to reach my goals.

Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks?  1-Accountability knowing my team is counting on me is a big motivation.

I have a feeling if I wasn’t on a team I probably would have skipped several days that were really cold or raining this past 6 weeks. I had flu twice this year. I probably wouldn’t have come back as soon as I did if team wasn’t counting on me.

2-My fitness pal is a great help to me.

I know what the calories are in dark chocolate and red wine BUT, for some reason when I see the nutrition content and calories in MFP food diary it is a big eye opener!

3-My Coach ap- It sounds silly, but reading the daily question/motivation/reminders really does help. We get so busy and its nice to focus on one aspect a day like- water, stretching, just good habits

Carol Jackson – 16.4 Pounds in 6 weeks!

Kathi Hine – Lost 6.1 pounds in 6 weeks!
Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks?  Over the past 6 weeks GYIS has challenged me to workout consistently. I love being outside and working out with others. Being in a positive group environment has been fun but has also challenged me to step up and work harder. I am competitive and just having others next to me doing the same thing pushes me to do more, especially when I am not sure I have more. The contest has held me accountable to getting up and moving every day. But more than anything, it has held me accountable to working on my diet. Exercising is not generally an issue for me but monitoring my diet is harder. My commitment to MyFitnessPal allows me to see what I am eating and the breakdown of what I was eating. That has been eye opening! Often, I would think that I was on track and doing well but at the end of the day MyFitnessPal told me otherwise. On the most part my meals are healthy, but I need to figure out the food combinations throughout the day! It is a work in progress. The daily email messages; reminders and encouragement are what I needed; the right topic and message at the right time.

What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks?  The benefits of being in the biggest winner contest is that I was accountable to myself but that I am accountable to the other people on my team. I like knowing that when I go to work out there are others there with the same goals. I love that someone else plans the workout for me and I just get to execute the plan! The variety of the work outs keeps me wondering…. I don’t dread my workout thinking I am going to be doing the same old routine. Although it is a group workout I feel that I get that personal attention and guidance during my time there. I’m grateful for the support and encouragement from my trainers, team and others within the GYIS community (people I don’t even know).

Works out are fun when you are a part of something and I have really enjoyed that aspect. When it comes to nutrition I have consistently documented my food intake and I am learning to be more aware of what is in the food I eat based on what MyFitnessPal tells me. It is a work in progress!

The community aspect of this has been so encouraging. Not that I am surprised, but I really feel a part of it.  When I decided to do this, I decided that I would actually participate…something that I tend not to do in these situations. I tend to sit back; my participation typically listening but not actively engaging / sharing. This has forced me to be more involved, to respond and share and I have done that. (And survived. 😊)

Theresa Stevens – Lost 8.2 pounds in 6 weeks!

What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks?

Steve Brandt – Lost 9.6 pounds in 6 weeks!
Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks?  Where do I start?

Goals – The BWC has reinforced the ever-important aspect of Goal Setting. Boot Camp 3x/week; ODC 2x/week; eat clean every day; follow the darn instructions! These might seem like simple, regular short-term goals, but for me, they really solidified the weekly routine and I believe will set me up for added success in the months ahead.

Motivation and Accountability – GYIS provides these as part of their DNA. Religiously filling out MyFitnessPal and the use of MyCoach were instrumental to MY success. I will continue with both, but will need to join the next challenge to get more daily questions and lessons from Brad. They keep it interesting, at the front of my daily thoughts, and give me all sorts of tools for not just fitness success, but life success. Plus, the accountability of my fellow Warriors kept me honest about getting up for Boot Camp and ODC and finding ways to make it work, rather than making excuses to miss out. I found myself adjusting my schedule to fit the exercise and cardio into my schedule. I used to allow my schedule to dictate when I had available free time, but now I intentionally schedule time for these important life-saving activities into my schedule. What a concept!

Focus – I noticed that I am more focused and less clouded in my thinking, both at home and work. I believe I am more alert and productive. At home, I find myself wanting to be more active and take care of more projects/honey-dos than I ever did before. I also feel I’m gradually losing the previously-comfortable feeling of sedentary living.

5x/Week Routine – This is the biggest stride I hit during this challenge. Going from 0 times a week, to 2x a week for 3 months, then to 5x a week for the last 6 weeks has been huge. I feel that making that routine work within my life and schedule has been the biggest benefit. I have to be careful to avoid the reasons that sabotage that schedule. Sometimes it feels to easy to go back to a lesser active schedule.

What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks?  Improved focus and energy. I happened to also complete a 28-day Slim & Trim session with Cynthia that stoked the nutrition and supplements regiment, which resulted in inches and weight loss (TBD on Friday!). This was a great stepping stone towards accomplishing my long-term goals and showed me just a few more concepts and strategies for success.

This challenge has added two-days of ODC to my previous routine, which I feel has improved my overall cardio fitness, held me accountable (working with Team WoW) and helped shave almost 2-minutes off my mile time. I’m a walker, not a runner and actually dreaded having to be timed in the mile. This last time I knew I beat my last time, but was very excited to have done it by that much.

Plus, I made new friends and created some lasting relationships that hopefully will continue beyond the 6-Week BWCh. March will be the start of my 6th month overall, so…onward and upward!

Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks?  I had gotten realize lazy about using my fitness pal.  This has helped me get back in the gear. I needed the push.

What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks?  I think I have lost a little. Not as much as I’d wished, but I realized I probably should sign up for challenges when it’s warmer. And I had a couple of family emergencies that pulled me away from workouts and off my game.

Minal Dekhne – Lost 1.4 pounds in 6 weeks!
Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? GYIS Biggest Winner Contest of 6 weeks has helped me stay focused to complete my workouts for the entire week which included off day cardio in addition to 3 days of boot camp sessions. It added accountability and motivation being with a fun group to work with. And when I didn’t feel like doing it, I got motivated by seeing other people completing their work. It had been an awesome and very cheerful experience for me for a past month and half.

What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? Because of this 6 weeks challenge, I have pushed myself to keep up with the exercise goal consistently. This has helped me to make the exercise/cardio part of my daily routine which keeps me energized for the entire day. Aldo being consistent with workouts has helped me to build strength and sleep better in nights. Due to this challenge I have gotten better to eat healthy food and drink lots of water. I think I have gotten toned down and have lost some weight in these 6 weeks. I plan to continue as much as possible with the same routine in the future for my better health. Thanks GYIS for all the guidance and the support throughout this process! Couldn’t have been possible without you guys!

Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks?  I have been able to create a routine of working out, eating right, and logging everything into MyFitnessPal.  I am not very self-disciplined, so I normally have trouble fitting in the off day cardio.

Parvinder Kaur – Lost 3.4 pounds in 6 weeks!
Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? The GYIS Biggest Winner Contest has helped me in becoming more aware of myself, my goals, my So THAT’s. It has made me more conscientious to continue to pursue my goals. It has helped me in becoming committed to follow a regular exercising schedule. In spite of external influences such as the weather I made sure that I get in my Off Day Cardio and I plan to continue to carry on that regime.

What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks?  The benefits of the challenge were to develop a habit of exercising on the Off Days as well, look into the nutrition I was eating and identifying where I was messing up. These 6 weeks have encouraged me to continue working harder even though the challenge is over and to achieve what I initially set out for. Although I was hoping to lose more weight and inches than I did, I am not discouraged but more enthusiastic to continue this journey. Slow and steady is my resolve and I want to make the process of weight loss enjoyable so that it feels easier and gives better results.

Sangeeta Bachani – Lost 4.25 inches in 6 weeks!
Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? It helped me

Envision – Since it was a short 6-week challenge, I could “see” my accomplishments.

Commitment – And therefore was able to commit.

Focus – Once I made the commitment, the biggest ask was to focus on myself and what needed to be done to get to my vision.  As part of the focus, I had to prioritize.

Prioritize – As I would plan my week, I would tweak some plans…for example, if I was meeting a friend, I would say, let’s meet over coffee instead of lunch, if lunch was it, then I would pick a place that would offer choices like a good salad with light dressing or if I had to go elsewhere, I would order grilled chicken versus enchilada, for instance.  I also noticed a lot of moving on days I would not have otherwise done especially on the exceptionally cold days.

Analyze – At the end of the day, when I would either punch in on to Myfitnesspal or my notebook, I would kind of analyze what that was like in terms of energy and what I had eaten, when I had eaten and started finding a correlation.

Creativity – As a traditional Indian cook, I found myself being creative with different foods/recipes.  I prepared a vegetarian Minestrone soup from scratch and learned how to prepare grilled chicken with different flavors and a side of veggies.  Trivial as it sounds, it was different for me.  I also switched to eating fruits and nuts in the morning versus an omelet/oatmeal/other Indian breakfast.

General – I felt I was more conscious and focused about just about everything I did these last four weeks for me as I was sick for two of these six weeks!

All in all, a win win!!!  Go GYIS!!!!!

What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks?  I feel light.  While I have not lost a whole lot of weight, I have trimmed over 4 inches.

I feel I was able to accomplish.

If I could do this in four weeks, (I was out sick for two weeks) I can do more going forward

I feel I have learned new ways to achieve personal fitness.

I am more aware and conscious about fitness decisions.

I think I can do this…let’s go for more…fitness and good health!! Go GYIS!!!!

Steve Moomau – Lost 2.2 pounds in 6 weeks!

Tina Beier – Lost 3.6 pounds in 6 weeks!
Describe how the Get You In Shape Biggest Winner Contest has helped you these past 6 weeks?  What has been helpful for me is the increased accountability using My Fitness Pal and My Coach plus the support of the other GYIS clients that have been on the same journey.

What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Contest over the last 6 weeks? The two biggest benefits for me have been additional weight loss and starting Cardio Club so that I complete off day cardio and reap the benefits of additional workouts!
