Get You In Shape’s Core Value #1 – Put people in a positive environment that creates encouragement, inspiration, accountability and motivation.

Get You In Shape wanted to start off the year right with a proven way to get RESULTS from the start. So we had a Team Biggest Winner Challenge the first 6 weeks of 2016. We had 36 clients who participated and seven teams who all came together to help keep each other get and stay motivated and ACCOUNTABLE.

The results were AWESOME. Over 198 Pounds lost and 326 Inches from the group! The average weight loss was 7 pounds and 10 inches in just 6 weeks.
WE ALSO HAD A LOT OF FUN!

It was very hard to pick both a winning team and two individual winners.

I am competitive by natural so the BWC is a great challenge for me. I love being part of a team that encourages one another. I was motivated to do the best I could for my team.

What have been some of the benefits and results from the Get You In Shape Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks?
Even though I was hampered with a hamstring strain I knew my real challenge was my diet. I focused on eating healthy during the BWC. I am happy to say I lost 15 lbs and almost 13 inches.

Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? The GYIS Biggest Winner Contest definitely helped me by being accountable. Our team, the Women of Mass Reduction has significantly helped me in making sure I made it to boot camp, was exercising on my off-day cardio days, and journaling my food. I did not want to let the team down and made an all-out effort to do what was expected for the contest. Although we only worked out once as an entire group, group messenger was set up so we could talk daily. The six of us really bonded and I learned so much from my teammates, had lots of laughs too!
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks?
1. Over the last six weeks, most importantly I lost weight and inches.
2. I used MyFitnessPal daily and tracked what I ate and tracked my exercise.
3. I ate breakfast; I’ve fallen in love with vanilla protein shakes with PB2 in them.
4. I packed snacks for the wee and took to work. I never got bored, because I would do several variety items.
5. I used several aps such as MFP, Runkeeper and 7 minute intervals
6. Just being conscious of what I’ve been putting in my mouth and having to record that has made me make better eating decisions. The overall benefit has been my energy has increased and I have some awesome team members/friends and a coach that was there for us along the way! Thanks fellow Women of Mass Reduction!

Michele Solorio – 5.2 Pounds in 6 weeks!Weapons 2
Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? It helped me stay on track with my food intake by pushing me to log on my fitness pal every day. My team helped motivate me to do my off day cardio that was required. In short I was more motivated to reach my goal of losing weight and inches.
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? One of the big benefits was the friendships I made on my team. Everyone was so supportive and helpful. We all shared ideas and experiences to uplift one another. We rarely saw one another but we communicated everyday and usually first thing in a.m. And then at night to check in. We all did so well during this contest. The results I had were losing 6lbs and 10 inches overall in six weeks which I am very happy about. I feel so much lighter and stronger.

Vilma Irizarry – Lost 7.6 pounds in 6 weeks!
Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? I lost 7.6 Ibs and 12.5 inches overall. I feel more energetic and clear minded.
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? It provided an environment so the keys to healthy living could click in my brain.
I knew my eating habits were upside down (no breakfast, little lunch, and big
dinner with late night munchies). They were creating havoc but I couldn’t quite
fix it. I lacked the motivation and accountability to get it done. The contest
motivated me to get it fixed and the accountability to my team helped me
continue making the right choices. I started having breakfast and added
vegetables to my evening meal. Just getting those two things fixed right away
was huge for me. It started a positive spiral; got my exercises done, got me to
plan ahead to defend against any weakness (eating out, or traveling for work).Weapons 1

Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? Being able to stick to cleaner eating.
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? Having 5 other people depending on me and lifting me up through the rough patches was a tremendous benefit.

Ana Castano-Mears – Lost 2.2 pounds in 6 weeks!
Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? The best part of this journey has been the comradery and support that this group has provided while we are on the weight loss/getting healthy journey. I have learned what to eat, what I choose not to eat and how to get better choices. Not wanting to let my team down was a support incentive.
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? I feel better and much more energy. I feel better with my body and even though I have a long way to go, I am happy to be in this journey with this wonderful group of ladies. Even though I got very sick and went out of town 3 week, I still accomplished some weight loss. More importantly, lost inches every time.

It re-energized me to continue my journey toward a healthier me (for the long haul). My favorite quote lately came from one of Brad’s posts “I already know what giving up feels like. I want to see what happens if I don’t.” author Neila Rey Having these 5 beautiful co-horts of WoMR enthusiastically led me back to the right track for the journey.
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? Over the last 6 weeks I have lost 6.4 pounds and around 10 inches. I also found 5 new fabulous friends!

I’ve tried harder in my workouts to get better results. It’s been a huge help with the accountability with all of the tracking and checking in on myfitnesspal.

What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? One of the best benefits is doing the contest in a group and the support of my bootcamp babes and trainers. I’ve lost 3lbs. in the past 6 weeks.BootCamp Babes

Robin McCoy – Lost 10.6 Pounds
Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? I have lost 11 pounds in the last 6 weeks! This is a huge difference from past efforts. And I have gained so much more energy and enthusiasm overall.
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? The 6 week contest held me very accountable to my team. I don’t know that I would have been as on-point while on vacation had I not wanted to let the team down. And in turn I didn’t gain New Orleans weight….I had lost 3 pounds when I returned.

Martha Hernandez – Lost 1 Pound
Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? The GYIS Biggest Winner Contest has helped me stay focused on exercise and what I am eating. In addition, it has helped me realize that I can keep up with a consistent exercise program and it can be fun!
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? Over the last six weeks I have seen tremendous improvement in my stamina to complete exercises! I can now do a burpee – unmodified; I can run faster and for a longer time period than before; and I have seen a 25% improvement in my time for holding a plank. I am feeling more energized and excited about attending boot camp! I have also met some wonderful ladies who are always encouraging and supportive!

The 6 week contest helped me get back to food journaling, reinforcing the benefits of off day cardio and feeling part of a community. Food journaling, when done accurately really can help you make better choices and lose weight. The exercise helps with overall feeling healthy and strong and keeping a good energy level.
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? I lost 3 lbs and a couple of inches. Although that isn’t that much, I have “reset” my eating habits and trying to stay consistent on the cardio. I had kept 6 lbs off of 10 lbs lost last January so if I keep going should be able to maintain the healthier weight another year.

What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? Recording what I have been eating day to day has resulted in losing 5 pounds over 6 weeks!

Joe O’Brien – Lost 11.8 Pounds
Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? This contest has provided the accountability necessary to motivate me to pay attention to how much food and what kind of food I intake coupled with how much exercise I need to perform in order to burn more than I consume.
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? This challenge has helped me to start the year off right by losing my holiday weight and refocusing on eating better and working out more consistently. I have lost 7 inches (1.5 on my waist), lost 12 pounds, and gained more muscle definition.

Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? I was able to reset my nutrition after the holidays and get back on tracks with clean eating and had the team to hold me accountable.
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? In the last six weeks I have lost over 7 pounds and 15 inches.

Zach Edwards – Lost 9 Pounds
Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? The GYIS Biggest Winner has really helped me the past 6 weeks by keeping me accountable to my team for Bootcamp & off day cardio and accountable to my training by keeping a food journal. This has helped me really push my training to the max in preparation for my first marathon February 28th.
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? The past 6 weeks, I’ve dropped another 9 pounds and now weigh what I did back in college football, 14 years ago! This contest was the final push I needed to reach that goal within 1 year…. Losing over 37 pounds to do so! My run training has also gotten more intense and all of my times have dropped during this 6 weeks….5k, 10k & 1/2 marathon distance times have all drastically improved.

Gerrit Schuller – Lost 13.2 Pounds
Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? It has helped to hold me accountable on my diet and record all my meals to see what I was putting in my body and track the calories and amount of carbs I was taking in. It also helped me to ensure getting in my off day cardio since I had to log this on Facebook.
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? I have lost 13 pounds and improved my mile time. All my clothes fit better and my overall attitude has improved since my confidence and energy level has improved. Finally, it has really allowed me to run with my daughter and help her with some of her running goals.

What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? I lost the weight I had gained during the holidays and a week-long vacation.

Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? This contest has helped me get closer to my weight loss/fitness level goals. It has also helped me to be more committed to getting up and going to boot camp, and doing off day exercises and or cardio.
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? The benefits are many, including: I learned how to use My Fitness pal, I learned how to be a better team supporter, I also have noticed a lot more energy in my day to day life. My daily mood was improved, and this contest was FUN!!
My results were that I lost about 10.40 pounds and a total of 23 inches.

Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? It has helped give me a push to do the things I need to do. It is easier to be accountable to a team than it is to myself sometimes. I know I don’t want to let the team down by not doing my part.
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? Clothes fit a little better, more energy and feel better about myself. I also feel I have gotten to know the ladies in my group better. It makes me feel more connected to GYIS!!

Participating has helped me most by being in a group of supportive folks with the same goal……taking care of themselves. I have held myself accountable and done a better job of eating the right food and attending workouts. The ODC was a bonus…..
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? I lost over 6 lbs. and 12 inches that I didn’t know I had to lose. I feel more energetic and stronger. The biggest benefit is the sense of community this “contest” provided.

Candy York – Lost 12.25 Inches
Describe how the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge has helped you these past 6 weeks? Of the past 6 weeks, I believe I was on the road with business travel for 3 if not 4 of those weeks. Having members of the team communicating helped to keep my foot in the door and not throw everything to the wind. As I look forward to knee surgery, staying involved with boot camp kept me going even if it was only the strength training and not so much of the cardio. There were days when I had just returned to town, that I went to boot camp because of the team accountability.
What have been some of the benefits and results from the GYIS Biggest Winner Team Challenge over the last 6 weeks? These past 6 weeks, I’ve been the poster child for “what not to do”. I attempted off day cardio (low impact cycling), finding without a day to recover, I would get no sleep due to pain and cramps…so I stopped ODC. I did go to the market when out of town to get fruit, snacks and lunches but often would go for long stretches of time without eating. I also worked graveyard shift, so my sleep schedule was all messed up, not to mention lacking. In spite of it all, I lost inches 12.25….but did post a gain of 2.4 lbs. I would not have done as well if I had not made the effort to attend boot camp when I did and focused on some of the food and timing of my meals.
