Coppell Trainer Spotlight Rookie of the Month – June 2016 – Pauline & Pete Stein


Pauline Stein is a homemaker and does numerous volunteer projects. Pete Stein works in Private Equity and they call Coppell home.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
Pauline: I’ve heard about GYIS, and was bored with several other programs I had attended in Coppell.
Pete: I’ve made a choice to fight back at the age of 51. I don’t want to physically decline from here as I get older. I have too many plans still to achieve!

Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
Pauline: I found myself tired and not as strong as I was used to being. Hitting the mid-50s was a wake-up call that I needed to do something different.
Pete: Lower energy, sore back from sitting all the time, putting on unwanted weight.

Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
Pauline: I originally came with a girlfriend, but quickly found a lively and friendly group that was very inclusive. The workouts were fun and keep evolving to keep challenging you. I’ve been attending GYIS since Oct and love the variety of activities and team building conditioning.
Pete: The routines were hard but not insane. I love the group workouts as that is what pushes you (everyone doing the workouts together). I also appreciate the stretching before and after given all the sitting I do at work… plus it has given me a chance to do something with my wife, Pauline.

Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
Pauline: I have increased my daily water intake and stopped all sodas, teas etc. Plus, I have stopped my after dinner snacking.Pete&Paulinebefore&after
Pete: Stretching and workout routines I can use in my hotel room as I travel.

Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
Pauline: The variety, not only in workout routines but in coaches. I like the way GYIS is about giving a healthy workout without the boring routine. Lots of laughter and encouragement make it a fun way to start the day.
Pete: I have used personal trainers (which are much more expensive) and this experience is the same workout intensity wise but much more fun! GYIS is a family! We are doing this together!

Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
Pauline: My first month I dropped 5 lbs. and numerous inches. But the real change has been in my personal energy and muscle building. So I don’t watch the scales so much. I like the way my clothes are fitting and the toning of my legs and arms are apparent.
My husband and I have plans for a very physically active retirement. So my long term goal is that I can keep up with him and physically be able to do all the fun travels and adventures we have been dreaming of.
Pete: I am much stronger. I have dropped 5 pounds in 3 months (I achieved my goal) but put on muscle. I can run again without it hurting. I have more energy. My back doesn’t hurt as much given my core is stronger.

Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
Pauline: If you are looking to make a change, to enjoy getting back in shape, GYIS is worth a try. It is a great group of like minded people from all walks of life who are looking to improve their health. There are a variety of products to try. The workout schedule is designed to accommodate numerous work/family commitments, and the atmosphere is always positive and encourages everyone to work at their own pace, while personally challenging yourself.
Pete: It’s a great way to fight back against “getting older”… plus this is way more fun (and less expensive) than working with a personal trainer.
