Susan Matulevicius is a cardiologist at UT Southwestern and is from Coppell, TX.
Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
I had done a baby bootcamp after my second child in 2008 that I really loved but then after I went back to work and moved to Coppell, I had stopped exercising, had gained weight, and really wasn’t taking care of myself. I saw the Get You in Shape trailer in 2011 and clients exercising next to the aquatic center and decided to give it a try.
Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
I really liked it. Chaney was so welcoming. Everyone seemed to have a good time and no matter an individual’s fitness level, everyone was supportive.
Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
I like the “ABCs of being a bootcamper” for when I go out of town as well as myfitnesspal.com.
Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
Baby bootcamp was just about new moms and their babies. Get You In Shape is for all ages. I’ve loved seeing others transform in front of me and also see some people that are older than me maintain a healthy lifestyle. They really inspire me. I also love the family atmosphere. I look forward to seeing my bootcamp “neighbors” at 5:30 AM and working with them to get and stay in shape.
Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
When I first started I lost about 20 lbs and then maintained that for about four years. I gained 10 lbs of it back with some stressful events in my life but then did the Total Transformation contest in January and February and lost 17 lbs. I’m at the lowest weight I’ve been since 2008, feel younger, feel stronger, and feel better about myself.
Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
Do it. You’ll love the trainers, you’ll love your fellow bootcampers, and you’ll love the variety of different exercises. You’ll feel like you are accomplishing something and find a group of people who are equally committed to a healthy lifestyle. It’s just a great environment to be in and a great group to be with.
