Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
Before GYIS-I thought a lot about losing weight, but only between meals. Once I was hungry, I would eat fast food or comfort food. I was busy at work and wasn’t taking time to live an active life or healthy lifestyle. I had to go to the doctor for a required health screening to get reduced monthly payments on our health insurance. My blood pressure was higher (than normal) and the scale read the highest number I had ever seen for my weight. I knew I needed to make a commitment to change something for my health but was so defeated I didn’t know where to begin.
My solo attempts at weight loss hadn’t worked and all I wanted was a quick fix to lose some weight fast with no effort!
Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
I was on Facebook and saw an ad for GYIS. They were looking for 15 people for a 28 day quick start program. I thought, this is just what I need. I can try it for 28 days-I can do anything for 28 days!!! I filled out the online form and a few minutes later Brad called me back. He told me about the program and I thought, “What the heck, what do I have to loose! I need to do something!” Nothing else was working so I made the commitment to join. It was the only workout I hadn’t tried in Coppell! I saved the best for last!
Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
I’ve always been impressed with the level of professionalism of the trainers. They helped me so much that first week. I was so out of shape and they helped adapt the exercise to my ability level. They were so supportive and kind. Even when I was embarrassed by my physical condition, they kept encouraging me along the way. The other clients were so friendly- they always greeted the new people and made you feel part of the group. Other workout places I had tried the trainers were nice but the clients were not friendly. The people (clients and Trainers) really make this organization SHINE!!! I’ve made a whole new circle of friends and I look forward to seeing them at 5:30am!
Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
I use My Fitness Pal to log my food diary. I love the GYIS private website for recipes and resources. GYIS has promotions to help you achieve your goals such as Biggest Winner and Total Transformation Challenges. The promotions help you work with the trainers, provide accountability, and help you reach your goals. Commitment and consistency are the two main things I have learned with GYIS. Know your “So that” to help you stay committed and consistent!!
Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
I have never been a person who would say they enjoy working out. I’ve tried health clubs, personal trainers, and specialty fitness places but never stuck with a workout program. But I’m totally “Sold” on GYIS. I look forward to working out and can’t believe the results in my appearance and level of fitness. The trainers are awesome and they really care about your journey to fitness.
Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
I lost 9 lbs my first month with GYIS. I was thrilled! I felt better and my clothes fit better. Currently, I’ve lost around 20 lbs and 23 inches overall. I fit in all my old clothes and am buying smaller sizes than I have in years. I’m actually back in regular sizes at the store. No more plus sizes!! My old saying was, “If you see me running, you should run too. Because something is terribly wrong!” I never ran or jumped because it hurt too much and required too much effort. With GYIS I have become a runner (a slow runner, but I run). I ran almost 3 miles this morning at Cardio Club. I’ve shaved over 4 minutes off my 1 mile run. I work out on vacations! I never wanted to work out on vacation-that was the time for eating and drinking! I feel great and have tons more energy!
Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
Just do it!!! It was the best decision I ever made for my health. I have increased my core strength, flexibility, balance, and cardio. It is an overall workout and lifestyle change with results-Just follow the darn directions!!
