Judy Whitehead is a Customer Care/HR Manager. She has lived in Coppell for the past 29 years.
Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
After passing an age milestone I noticed that I was out of breath a lot and not being able to do the physical activity I once was able to do. I was being a couch potato a lot and was always tired.
Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
I read about GYIS on Facebook and liked the idea of the early morning workouts. GYIS was offering the 6 week kick start program and I decided to try it out. I couldn’t continue on the path I was on.
Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
The family atmosphere of the group is great and the trainers are great about finding what level you as an individual should and can be working out at. There is always positive feedback.
Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
In addition to the weekday classes, I take advantage of all the Saturday sessions that I can. I also use the menus sent out by GYIS every week as a guideline to eating healthier.
Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
I would say that the family atmosphere of the classes. Everyone is genuinely interested in your progress and the positive reinforcement makes it easy to attend. And I love the outdoor workouts – come cold or hot weather. GYIS stands out because of the community involvement. It is nice to see a local business giving back to the community.
Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
I participated in a 6 week program. After 2 weeks I had lost 6.6 lbs and 10.75 inches, after 4 weeks I had lost another 5 lbs and 5 iches. At the end of the 6 week jumpstart my total weight loss was 14.2 lbs and 17.75 inches. My energy level has improved tremendously and my recovery time after exercise has decreased. If I feel this good after 6 weeks I had to wonder what I would feel like after 1 year. My resting heart rate has gone down also. I am just completing my 8th week and according to my scales I should be down a total of 19 lbs. My overall health has improved also. Update: At 10 weeks and have lost 25 lbs.
Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
Give it a try. GYIS offers kick start programs that are long enough to let you see the results. Like me, you may be signing up for a year:)
