Coppell Trainer Rookie of the Month – August 2018 – Marie Conrath

Marie Conrath is a Project Manager and lives about 1.3 miles from this Andy Brown Park at the Coppell/Lewisville border.

Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
Before joining GYIS, I was working out on my own, and getting it done but I didn’t have accountability, more variety of exercises and the support of a community. It was a little routine and mundane.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
I joined the GYIS program when I saw the “28 Day Challenge”. I thought I could do that then maybe just leave it there, since I would learn what I needed and accomplish a goal of losing the weight. It turned out that the program was fun; always has a variety of workouts every time we meet; has more support of group members and community; plus, I love the charity events and opportunities to help others.

Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
My first impression was that the trainers really do a great job in seeing each and every one of us, where when we need help in form or a different level of an exercise, they provide that.

Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
Some of the tools I’ve used that have benefitted me are the variety of equipment we get to use or first time to use, the nutritional information and reminders like those in the app MyFitnessPal or from GYIS’s nutritional workshop from Cynthia & Brad, and the buddy support system from other members.

Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
GYIS is unique to other programs, because we learn to use our own body resistance that is useful especially when traveling; we learn to use our environment as tools for working out as well; we are outside using the park and teaming up for stations; there is a great variety where every workout is different; we don’t get stuck in a routine using the same machines in a gym; and having friendship and community with our workout groups.

Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
I lost 5 lbs in my first month and another 5 lbs my second month with GYIS. Also, my arms and legs are more toned, and I know my core is stronger. An added benefit that I didn’t think would happen so quickly is that my injured shoulder, that had 6 months of therapy, is stronger and I can use it normally again!

Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
There are no cons to this program. You only benefit from good stuff and fun by giving it a try. If it were not fun, I wouldn’t do it!
