Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
I was already familiar with the GYIS program. I would have to weather the outside elements but it is the best program for encouragement, accountability and success that I need. I just can’t do this on my own.

Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
I was feeling so tired and lethargic; my weight was at an all-time high. I had such little energy that I thought I was dying. I am not ready to leave my family, so I prayed and I cried and asked Brad and Cynthia for their help. I got lucky, April was the start of a 24 day challenge, so I came on with that opportunity and my weight loss began which was very encouraging.

Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
I was welcomed by all the participants and trainers, the cardio mommas, Rockstars and the breakfast club. I ran my 1st 5k, then my 2nd and with the encouragement of LaNella and Tara, my third this weekend. I’m even challenging myself to a run a 15k in February next year, so I’m training for that. Finding friends to exercise and run with is a bonus of the GYIS program.

JoAnn Before AfterQ: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
My Fitness Pal – the suggested meal replacement Shakes, bars and supplements – GYIS – new sneakers and lots of Prayer!
The encouragement from my son, husband and other GYIS participants and trainers has been awesome.
I’ve literally have had my tears wiped away because the exercise struggles were so hard for me. Today, however, when Brad brought out the Evilizer, I did the advanced level. I can also do a straight plank for a full minute. So I can see that I am stronger.

Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
I loved walking with my subdivision friends for a long while, but as they’ve moved out, my routines changed from active to slow. I’m not one to do it alone, so I tried a personal trainer – the personal trainer was just about the hour and that was it – I didn’t lose any weight and my lifestyle didn’t change.
GYIS goes Above and Beyond that with nutrition, accountability, VIP groups, rewards… I have a band “Running for a Goal” that I got for running a 12 minute 06 second mile. Plus they are as appreciate of us as we are of them and it shows. GYIS is a family of caring, compassionate, reverent individuals that love what they do.

Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
I began my Get Me In Shape Journey in April, I lost 10 lbs the first month, 10 lbs the 2nd month, didn’t lose much my 3rd month, but I am down a total of 25 lbs since I’ve started. I am working on my running skills and I’m slow, but as Disney says “every Mile is Magic”. I am running my 3rd 5K in 3 months this weekend and have plans to keep doing one 5k each month to build my endurance and cadence.
I have more energy, I’m very active with my time, my agenda is always full now. It’s only been 3 months, but I feel like I am living now.

Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
I love the people in the program. I love the encouragement and I love my healthier lifestyle. I also love the compliments from my husband and son. I want to be around for my family and getting in shape with GYIS is helping me be a better, healthier me.
