Sandy Capps lives in Coppell and is a Dallas CASA volunteer, Operation Kindness Volunteer/Foster and a Realtor.

Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
I’ve always been fairly active. I belonged and worked out at a local fitness place for several years and have walked with a group of great friends for several years as well.

But – I wasn’t sleeping well or paying much attention to my nutrition. My stress and anxiety levels were affecting my everyday life. And I
was enjoying my vodka tonics way too much.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
I initially signed up for a 1 month trial after being encouraged by several friends that are members. They spoke highly of the program and I saw the physical effects of their workouts! I wanted to increase my strength and stamina so I could keep up w my younger friends (and loose a few pounds and inches!).

I like being outside and the variety of the workouts! Also, Brad’s enthusiasm, knowledge, and encouragement were a big selling point!

Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program? 
I felt welcomed and comfortable from the first day!

The trainers like Brad, are also knowledgeable, encouraging, and enthusiastic. They are very good at watching form as to prevent injuries.

The varieties of workouts are amazing. Kettle bells, sand bags, ropes, bands, ab rollers, etc. add to the ‘excitement ‘ of the workouts! The timed monthly mile run/walk is a great way for me to track my stamina.

Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
My Fitness Pal is a fabulous tool that keeps me honest!

Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
I love being outside and working out with new friends. There’s a great variety of workouts and there is a strong attention to core strength. I also love that GYIS is very plugged into our community and supports local charities. In addition to the workouts, they also have a cardio club.

Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
My quality of sleep has greatly improved.
I am getting stronger.
My skin is better.
My resting heart rate has decreased.
My mental health has improved (better mood and less anxiety and stress).
My endurance/energy has increased.
I’m recovering quicker.
Increase in my metabolism (I’m down a size on my bottom half!)
My balance is better.
My nutrition is better.
