Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program? I had a lot of stress in my life both personally and professionally. I knew I was not taking care or making time for myself and was doing a lot for others. I was not sleeping well and generally not feeling good. I started walking and running on weekends on my own which was a bit lonely and every once and a while I would see the GYIS group at Andy Brown and thought how nice it would be to have motivation and an exercise routine in my life.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program? Melissa Evans was my inspiration. She listened to my struggles, told me how good GYIS made her feel and invited me to ‘bring a friend’ day. I also want to be an inspiration to my daughter. I want her to see that her mom cares about physical and mental health through exercise and that I might be an inspiration for her as well and she has recently also increased her exercise routine. My husband is an avid biker, so we are an exercise family now!

Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program? My first impression was that I expected to be intimidated as I was not in the best shape, which could not be further than what I experienced. Every trainer was so warm, helpful and understand as I worked through each class. They are motivating, fun and the classes go so fast. I was scared of repetition and getting ‘bored’ and you soon realized that every workout is different, and they keep you on your toes!

Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you? There are so many tools that I have not taken advantage of yet (but I will!). My goal of making it to at least 3 sessions a week, every Saturday session available and the once a month 5K has been achievable and met! Will be adding new tools as I master another! We eat out a lot so the ‘eating out’ guide that Brad put together was so educational and helpful to me and my family.

Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before? I have tried single sport groups (running groups) but never one that works your whole body. I have never done group exercise like this. I think what makes it different is how adaptable it is to all fitness levels and the personal touch of the trainer and clients alike! Everyone cares about each other. Like a very supportive family!

Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program? I started on January 5 2019 (can you say New Years resolution?). I am almost at my 4-month mark and have lost inches in every area of my body (10 inches in total!), 2 minutes off my mile time and 3 minutes off my 5K. The best part is that I am sleeping better…almost 8 hours a night without waking up!

Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program? …give it a try …don’t think you won’t be able to keep up …do something good for yourself …just do it!
