Tasha Greenberg lives in Coppell and is a physician.
Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
Life was sedentary!! I used to work out a lot, then experienced a series of injuries and surgeries that left me unable to work out for a long time. I got used to being a couch potato!
Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
I was unhappy with my body and the example I was setting for my kids. I n eeded a jump start to a lifestyle change. I also have a very demanding, stressful job and felt that getting into a workout routine would help manage that stress in a productive way.
Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
I normally consider myself to not be a people person, so I was a bit worried to be in a group work out environment. My past work out experiences have been solitary. But, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying it so much. Everyone, from the instructors to the participants, was friendly and encouraging, making an effort to learn my name right away and cheer me on.
Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
For me, the most beneficial things have been the work outs themselves. I have always been a healthy eater and oddly don’t have a sweet tooth, so diet changes weren’t important. Drinking more water was!! But, just getting into a routine of working out has been the most important factor for me.
Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
I think the sense of community in this program is wonderful. There is such an encouraging, positive environment. I felt inspired by the group to give it my all. Also, I think the way that the program acknowledges your milestones makes a huge difference. You’re not anonymous and that makes you feel accountable, makes you want to strive for more and work harder.
Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
I haven’t lost weight, but I have lost inches. 9.5 at the last weigh in/measuring session. That’s in just under 2 months. I can see the difference in my body shape. Even my youngest daughter commented to me the other day that my stomach looked so much better. I think I’m working on a 2 pack of abs!!
I also have so much more energy to start my day after the 5:30 am workout. The commute to work becomes less stressful. And, as a chronic insomniac, I have noticed that I am sleeping better.
Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
DO IT!! You aren’t going to find a better group of people to help start the journey to a healthier you!
