For the past five years, Robin Gabriele has been mostly taking care of our three kids (Oliver-12, Harrison-8, and Amelia-5), but recently started working part-time for a small specialty foods marketing company. She resides in Coppell.
Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
I would wear workout clothes every day, but they were inconsistently used to workout. Being a mother of three, my lifestyle was “active,” and I jogged intermittently and play soccer, but I hadn’t consistently worked out for many years.
Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
We moved this summer…next door. My husband and I moved a lot of stuff on our own and I noticed I had lost a lot of strength I felt I used to have and it really bothered me. I haven’t been disciplined enough to hold myself accountable, so I wanted a support group and strengthening workout where I didn’t have to think (just follow).
Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
I was so pleased at the warm welcome of everyone, it was a completely unintimidating environment, which I really appreciated…all ages, all levels of fitness…I was very comfortable just “doing me.” The trainers are huge on form and getting things done well and safely, which I really need guidance on achieving.
Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
I’ve enjoyed the quick tips…for example, the importance of eating every few hours…this has helped me a lot. I appreciate the regular measurements and monthly mile runs as they are a true testament to improvement and change, which is gratifying.
Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
I’d say the people…everybody truly knows your name and seems to care and support one another, which I just love. We are all on our own journey and can use a little support every once in a while. I am also completely amazed that after two months of workouts, how different each is, to an extent. This really makes exercising seem like less of a “task” or “bore”; I’m thrilled every time we do something completely different.
Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
There have definitely been “superficial” changes. I lost a total of 4 inches in 6 weeks and I dropped my mile time almost a full minute in one month. I’ve felt more energetic and my body feels stronger. I used to have occasional lower back pain, which I am no longer experiencing.
Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
I’d say, don’t be scared to try it…after meeting with Brad initially, I was a little intimidated and afraid I’d be completely lost or overwhelmed, but with my husband’s encouragement, I showed up and haven’t looked back. I’d say, just show up, it’s your life, your workout, give it a try and take it from there.
