Eileen Flaig works part-time as an HR manager at a small local company and lives in Coppell.
Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
I had always struggled with my weight, but after a bad flare up with my back I stopped doing yoga or any type of exercise and the pounds piled on. I literally was up to my highest weight EVER- including when I was pregnant with either of my children! I had little energy, I ate terribly, and I was having trouble sleeping.
Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
The scale! I just couldn’t believe the number I was seeing! I never was a fan of pictures, but I found myself deleting any that I was in! I tried so many times to start on my own, but I never lasted more than a couple days before binging and then giving up. I saw an ad for a GYIS on Facebook and it was for a “jump start” and I knew that was exactly what I needed- a jump start!
Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
I love how friendly and welcoming everyone is! From the first day I felt included. I really like how it is for people who are over 40 and that there are people in all different levels of fitness and/or amount of weight that they need to lose etc. I feel like it is a space to work out without judgement. I also like how the instructors took the time to learn everyone’s name AND acknowledge each participant at every class.
Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
The bootcamp itself, of course, and also my fitness pal. But to be honest, I LOVED the daily check in with the coach! That was so helpful at the beginning to know that I wasn’t forgotten! I also found the calendar with the meal plan helpful. For me, knowing what to make for dinner every day is difficult, and I found that my family enjoyed the suggested meals!
Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
The “SO THAT” concept. I have found that when I am faced temptation that I can repeat SO THAT to help me get through it. It is knowing WHY I want to lose the weight that helps me stay on track.
Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
• I have been losing weight and inches! In the first month I lost 15 pounds! I still have a LONG way to go, but it was definitely the jump start I was looking for!
• I have more motivation to get things done!
• I have an overall more positive mood,
• I have started back to yoga which was one of my goals!
Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
Give it a try! Everyone is supportive and encouraging. Workouts are for all fitness levels and end up being a lot of fun!
