Q: What was your life like before re-joining the Get You In Shape Program?
After my back surgery, I completed four months of PT, working on my back, core, legs and balance. I had lost a lot of muscle since I wasn’t running. When my PT ended, I thought I would continue my workouts at the gym. I ended up doing some cardio but wasn’t consistent with an overall workout. I focused on what I could NOT do instead of the CAN do. I gained about 20 pounds and was miserable. My cholesterol was 240 and the doctor threatened to put me on meds. This was a wake up call.

Q: Why did you decide to re-join the Get You In Shape program?
I enjoy an early, outside, group work out so I convinced my husband, Steve to rejoin for the summer as a trial period. All we had to do is show up ready to go. We don’t have to plan anything. If we miss a class, there’s so many sessions times to make. Turns out, all is good. I modify when needed and the trainers focus on what I CAN do.

Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
I was already familiar with GYIS from my eight year membership before my surgery. I knew the routine, the great trainers and great people who had been in the program. Class was like coming home again, it just feels right.

Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
Since I’m highly competitive, I love when Brad throws down a challenge. So far, my favorite is the six week “No Sugar” Challenge. I learned about sugar and how to avoid stress eating. I’m on week nine and goal is to continue to not eat refined sugar. I like the Modere products because it’s a simple program. The tips on food prep help me to plan and prepare so I’m never without a healthy option at work or home.

Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
GYIS program is unique in the way trainers present the exercises and are always encouraging. The program offers great nutritional tips and recipes.

Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
Before I began the program in the summer, my overall cholesterol was 247. The doctor threatened to put me on meds so this was a wake up call for me. Last test, my count is 193. My weight has gone from 140 to 128.

Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?
If you’re looking to change your thought processes on exercise and nutrition, GYIS is THE program. It’s the these very processes that leads to a lifestyle change for life, not just a short period of time.
