Coppell Fitness Camp – Info for Boot Camp week Oct. 20-24

As Get You In Shape is celebrating 7 Years of the Coppell Fitness Boot Camp, this week’s blog and tip is my story. Many people have asked how “Get You In Shape” came to be. I also have added 7 lessons learned (one from last year) that hopefully can help you in some way. Check it out below and I also encourage you to share what you think in the comment section on the post.

QUICK TIP – Sure you “could” have had a V8, but you might be glad you didn’t…

If someone tells you something is “100% Vegetable Juice” you tend to believe them.

But in her August blog post on, Vani Hari displayed a graphic of a twitter exchange where the Campbell Soup company representative admits that the “natural flavoring” in V8 juice may include “meat/seafood/poultry and/or dairy.”

In an update to her blog post, she included an exchange one of her team members had with a Campbell’s representative in a chat exchange online.

In it a Campbell’s rep. by the name of Kelly typed the following:

“The term “flavoring” refers to the oils or extracts that are obtained from spices and herbs. Natural flavoring may also include onion or garlic derivatives, as well as flavor derived from fruits, vegetables and their juices, or edible parts of plants. Other sources may include meat, seafood, poultry or dairy products, whose significant function in the food is flavoring rather than nutrition.”

Now, if you’re a vegetarian or vegan, and a regular V8 drinker, this obviously might cause you alarm.

As a result of Vani’s blog post, a petition asking Campbell’s to remove any animal-based ingredients in its V8 and vegetable soup products skyrocketed from 200 to nearly 6,000 signatures in just a few hours.

In subsequent emails with Vani, Campbell’s denied that they might possibly use “meat/seafood/poultry and/or dairy” in their V-8 drink. They’ve also advised their customer care team to respond accordingly.
