blog

Oct 19

As Get You In Shape is celebrating 7 Years of the Coppell Fitness Boot Camp, this week’s blog and tip is my story. Many people have asked how “Get You In Shape” came to be. I also have added 7 lessons learned (one from last year) that hopefully can help you in some way. Check it out below and I also encourage you to share what you think in the comment section on the post.

BINGO – Plan on wearing your 7th Year T-shirts on Friday October 24th as this will be one way we know if you earned the blender bottles.  Go here to see it!

It’s been great seeing so many people playing the BINGO game.

Read the details and how to earn your BINGO stamps on our blog here.

Reminder about weather and where to check – We will always have the sessions rain or shine. Always check the Get You In Shape Fan page as it is just a website that is the quickest way we can communicate with everyone. In the end, though, we will be under the outdo pavilion or inside (evening sessions are always outside). You don’t have to be on facebook (have an account) as you just need to go to the website. It’s Facebook.com/GetYouInShape.com

Schedule this week – M-W-F and Saturday 7am and 8am

Rookie and Spotlight of the month – Be sure to check out Amy’s and Scarlet’s story in the Spotlight section below.

QUICK TIP – Sure you “could” have had a V8, but you might be glad you didn’t…

If someone tells you something is “100% Vegetable Juice” you tend to believe them.

But in her August blog post on FoodBabe.com, Vani Hari displayed a graphic of a twitter exchange where the Campbell Soup company representative admits that the “natural flavoring” in V8 juice may include “meat/seafood/poultry and/or dairy.”

In an update to her blog post, she included an exchange one of her team members had with a Campbell’s representative in a chat exchange online.

In it a Campbell’s rep. by the name of Kelly typed the following:

“The term “flavoring” refers to the oils or extracts that are obtained from spices and herbs. Natural flavoring may also include onion or garlic derivatives, as well as flavor derived from fruits, vegetables and their juices, or edible parts of plants. Other sources may include meat, seafood, poultry or dairy products, whose significant function in the food is flavoring rather than nutrition.”

Now, if you’re a vegetarian or vegan, and a regular V8 drinker, this obviously might cause you alarm.

As a result of Vani’s blog post, a Change.org petition asking Campbell’s to remove any animal-based ingredients in its V8 and vegetable soup products skyrocketed from 200 to nearly 6,000 signatures in just a few hours.

In subsequent emails with Vani, Campbell’s denied that they might possibly use “meat/seafood/poultry and/or dairy” in their V-8 drink. They’ve also advised their customer care team to respond accordingly.
