Our Group Personal Training program is specifically designed for people who want to workout with a passionate and fun group of like-minded people who have a desire to be, do and become more. I want to be very clear - this may be an important consideration for you - our program is NOT for people who want to "get their butts kicked" or walk out of a workout feeling like they've been hit by a bus. They are not for anyone who wants to be in a competition each and every workout session. Our workouts are scientifically designed to deliver body-transformation results AND make you feel & move better than ever before. Form and function are two very important factors in our training program. Don't worrying, though, as we will educate you on how to do both. 

​I also want to share that Get You In Shape is a small, family-owned business that puts a real emphasis on relationships. We consider our Clients a part of our Get You In Shape Family, and they share the same view. We’re NOT like a big-box facility or a national franchise that basically rents you equipment and may offer some personal training services for a few hours a week. “Where Are They Now” Spotlight – December 2017 – Robin McCune & Jacqueline Tapella

Success Story

Robin and Jacqueline are a mother/daughter team that are a part of the GYIS community.
Robin McCune is a Pediatric Oncology Nurse at Medical City Children’s Hospital and she lives in Coppell, Texas. She joined the GYIS program in January of 2016.
Jacqueline Tapella opens new stores in the Real Estate department of Sally Beauty. She lives in Coppell, TX and began GYIS in May 2015.

Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
Robin: Before joining GYIS I was at my highest weight, was tired all the time, was working out inconsistently and not eating as healthy as I knew that I should. It was time to take control of my health again.
Jacqueline: Before GYIS – tried different gyms and bootcamps, had moved from another town with a bootcamp and was looking for something similar. This is even better!

Q: What results and benefits did you initially experience with the Get You In Shape Program?
Robin: By the second month with GYIS, I had lost 16.75 inches and 6.8 pounds! After 5 months, I had lost a total of 28.5 inches and 14 pounds and was down 2 sizes! I had more energy, was eating healthier and was consistently going to boot camp 3 days a week. I was thrilled with my results!
Jacqueline: My initial journey was a little backwards – I was 12 weeks pregnant with baby #3. So I obviously gained weight. In January of 2016, when I returned, I started with the 6 week group challenge and lost all the baby weight (38 pounds) plus about 5 more in 6 months.

Q: What results and benefits you accomplished since that first year?
Robin: I am so pleased to say that I have been able to maintain my results. I still attend GYIS boot camp 3 days a week and have a healthier lifestyle.
Jacqueline: Since losing all the weight – I have knocked over 2 minutes off my mile time! I also could not do even 1 running man sit-up – they are actually some of my favorite now!

Q: What do you feel have been some of the keys that have helped you throughout the journey?
Robin: The key things that have helped me throughout this journey is be consistent with my workouts at GYIS, using MyFitnessPal to log meals, food prepping. Also, the friends that I have made a GYIS keep us accountable for showing up! It’s great!
Jacqueline: Key things that have helped me are definitely using a fitbit to track my steps and activity, my fitness pal for the initial weight loss helped tremendously! I have learned a ton about clean eating and balancing daily intake of protein, carbs and healthy fats.

Q: What would you say to anyone looking to join the Get You In Shape program?
Robin: Joining GYIS was the best decision that I ever made! The trainers are amazing, the workouts are always changing and challenging. The trainers always demonstrate 3 different levels of how to perform the exercise so that people at all fitness levels can participate and grow stronger at their own pace. It is a fun and friendly environment where successes are celebrated and friends are made. Come join us – you won’t be disappointed!

Coppell Trainer Rookie of the Month – December 2017 – Judy Whitehead

Success Story

Judy Whitehead is a Customer Care/HR Manager. She has lived in Coppell for the past 29 years.

Q: What was your life like before joining the Get You In Shape Program?
After passing an age milestone I noticed that I was out of breath a lot and not being able to do the physical activity I once was able to do. I was being a couch potato a lot and was always tired.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Get You In Shape program?
I read about GYIS on Facebook and liked the idea of the early morning workouts. GYIS was offering the 6 week kick start program and I decided to try it out. I couldn’t continue on the path I was on.

Q: What was your first impression from the Get You In Shape program?
The family atmosphere of the group is great and the trainers are great about finding what level you as an individual should and can be working out at. There is always positive feedback.

Q: What have been some of the tools you have used that have benefited you?
In addition to the weekday classes, I take advantage of all the Saturday sessions that I can. I also use the menus sent out by GYIS every week as a guideline to eating healthier.

Q: How is the Get You In Shape program different from other programs you have tried before?
I would say that the family atmosphere of the classes. Everyone is genuinely interested in your progress and the positive reinforcement makes it easy to attend. And I love the outdoor workouts – come cold or hot weather. GYIS stands out because of the community involvement. It is nice to see a local business giving back to the community.

Q: What results and benefits have you experienced in the Get You In Shape Program?
I participated in a 6 week program. After 2 weeks I had lost 6.6 lbs and 10.75 inches, after 4 weeks I had lost another 5 lbs and 5 iches. At the end of the 6 week jumpstart my total weight loss was 14.2 lbs and 17.75 inches. My energy level has improved tremendously and my recovery time after exercise has decreased. If I feel this good after 6 weeks I had to wonder what I would feel like after 1 year. My resting heart rate has gone down also. I am just completing my 8th week and according to my scales I should be down a total of 19 lbs. My overall health has improved also. Update: At 10 weeks and have lost 25 lbs.

Q: What would you say to anyone looking at this program?

Coppell Personal trainer Tip And why 69% of Americans are Overweight

I had a someone ask me the other day to recommend a good book in health and nutrition.
I certainly have some great ones but she was in her early 50’s so I just wanted to research first along with reach out to some of my fitness friends who I know only help folks 50+.

Have you gone to the health, nutrition and fitness section of a Barnes and Nobles lately?
Below is a picture of what it looks like just to give you a visual what the section looks like.

As I was searching for the book I ended up wanting to find, Younger Next Year, I took a step back and was blown away by all the different options there were for diets.

High fat…low fat. High carb…don’t eat carbs.
Can I eat an egg yolk…or not?
Whole 30, 28 days, 21 days, 14 days or 7 days?
Paleo, Keto, Atkins, Zone, Mediterranean or South Beach?
Eat for your body type blood type.
IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) 40/30/30…50/30/20…50/25/25…45/35/20
Do I or don’t I count calories?
Do calories even matter?

Your doctor tells you to lose weight so which one do you choose?

69% of American’s are overweight or obese. We have more information at our fingertips than ever before yet the trend is getting worse, not better.

Information overload is a big part of the problem.

This is how it works.

You pick a plan and get started. Your excitement and will power are at an all time high. If you choose a lower carb approach you will see drastic weight loss on the scale for the first couple of weeks.

Then, it stops.

You know the weight didn’t come on overnight and you understand that it’s not going to come off as fast as you would like.

You start looking things up on the internet and now you’re not as confident in the diet you originally chose.

You may switch to a different plan, go to the nutrition store and buy some pills or even buy the product off the infomercial…it was only $29.95.

You’ve lost some weight, gained some weight, lost more weight but gained even more back.

The truth is you would have been better off not starting any of this because you now have less muscle, more fat and once again you feel like a failure for not being able to stick with it.

Sound familiar?

Anytime I meet with someone new I ask what they’ve tried in the past. Many times they say they’ve tried everything.

The problem now is your belief.

You believe your metabolism is slow, that you have no willpower, that you have poor genetics, that it’s your age and this is just the way it is.

None of this is true.

What’s really happened is you stopped believing in yourself.

The truth is you can reach your ideal weight, have more strength, better flexibility, an abundance of energy and be in control of your health and fitness.

Confidence is key!

We’ll believe in you until you believe in yourself.
When your believe changes, then your CHOICES change.

Once that changes, it’s just a matter of following a proven program consistently over a period of time in order for you to achieve the desired goals.
