Coppell Personal Trainer and Boot Camp Health and Fitness Tip of the Week.

Nutrition!  What a headache it can cause…WHAT to eat?…HOW to eat?…WHEN to eat?  There are so many different schools of thought and theories.  For this week’s Tip of the Week, we wanted to keep things simple and just offer a few nutritional tidbits to help you make a few healthy changes starting right now.  The video provides a few simple substitutions you can make in your everyday diet that will help give your body what is needs.

Many times we get caught up in the snare of advertising and fall into their cleverly disguised products that tout LOW FAT and SUGAR FREE.  Beware of these claims because ultimately the manufacturer wants their product to taste good so the fat and sweetness will be provided by unnatural and artificial chemically altered products.

It is difficult to avoid every single bad product out there, so hopefully this week’s tip of the week can help you start making changes simply in the food you eat on a regular basis.  What are the items you and your family eat regularly? Start checking out the ingredients of those items first and ask yourself if there is a better option to what you are currently buying.

Not sure and need a little help? The Get You In Shape team will happily come over and raid your pantry and help you get started in the right direction.  Don’t hesitate to call or email with your food substitution questions.

What to do this week: When you are finished make sure you stay accountable to what you did and blog about it below in the comment section.

Tuesday (Wednesday for 2000 McKinney)
Try doing more quick bursts.
If you are out side:
45 Seconds Slow
45 Seconds Medium
45  Seconds as fast as you can
Repeat  for 30 minutes or up to 45 minutes before stretching

Thursday (Friday for 2000 McKinney)
30 minutes at one pace. If you are in the gym, switch exercise equipment (stair stepper, eliptical, bike, rowing machine, treadmill, etc.) every 10 minutes

If it just says cardio, you do not have to worry about slow, medium, and fast. Just push yourself and get your heart going for that specific period of time.

If you want to know how to figure out what speed you are going with your fitness level, here is a simple way to figure it out.
Slow – easily carry on a conversation
Medium – can only say one or two sentences without having to catch your breath
Hard – Can not talk

Also, 30 mintues is the minimum you should be doing. We have put the off-day cardio workouts as doing a minumum of 30 minutes. You can decide to do longer workouts as it will only help in your progress. What we see, though, is people thinking 60 minutes is too long (that is what the USDA recommends each day for weight loss) so they jsut don’t workout. Finding at least 30 minutes those off-days to focus on your health is something that you should do. If you can add more time, great.

As always, let us know how we can help you or if you have any questions

To your health,

Pushups for Charity Works to Raise $500,000 for Wounded Warrior Project and Kick-Start a Mini Fitness Revolution…One Pushup at a Time

Coppell, Texas – During the months of March and April, 100 health clubs, personal training studios and fitness boot camps will hold Pushups for Charity events across the nation involving thousands of participants and generating thousands of dollars each in donations to support our wounded warriors.  When the dust settles, they hope to collectively raise nearly $500,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project and kick-start a mini fitness revolution at the same time.

The local Pushups for Charity event in Coppell will be on April 10th at Coppell High School.  Full information is Coppell_Pushups_Charityavailable at www.PushUpsForCharityCoppell.com for those who want to participate or sponsor a participant.

“Our goal is two-fold,” explains Brad Linder, owner of Get You In Shape, the Boot Camp and Personal Trainer Provider running the Pushups for Charity event here in Coppell, “we want to show our support for the wounded warriors who have sacrificed so much for our freedom and security, and we want to engage our local community in a fun way to get fit.”

“We’ve engineered this to leverage the viral, word-of-mouth capability of the internet,” says Linder.  It starts with our boot camp and personal training clients telling their friends via email, and then their friends telling more people. Combine that with the media coverage, and we’re confident we can meet our ambitious participation and fundraising goals.”

“There’s no denying that when folks get engaged in positive and rewarding activities like charity and fitness, they feel better, perform better and frankly, are generally kinder and more enjoyable to be around!  This is one thing we can do to positively impact our town and our country,” says Linder.

“The way this works is simple.  Folks agree to sponsor an individual by donating fifty cents to one dollar for every pushup that person does in 90 seconds at our event.  Participants are not expected to do thousands of pushups, just as many as they can in 90 seconds, with an eye towards setting a new personal record.  All participants and all sponsors are rewarded with a valuable home study fitness program we’ve designed based on our 7 years of helping Coppell residents get in great shape.  Anyone and everyone are welcome to participate or sponsor.  View the video at www.PushUpsForCharityCoppell.com for more details and to register,” instructs Linder.
